Big Sky Wind Energy LLC
About Us
As wind project developers, we first must evaluate the obvious project feasibility factors: wind characteristics, landowner motivation, transmission line proximity, road access, environmental concerns, receptive community, and motivated off takers. With these initial considerations we select project sites and negotiate land owner benefits in order to execute lease agreements that are financially viable.
Our management team consists of Tylan Shelton as the primary owner, Pam Mason as the executive assistant, and Trena Beckman as our accountant. We will also have a team of consultants starting with Dr. Vaughn Nelson and Ken Starcher of the Alternative Energy Institute, previous AWEA board members and twenty four year veterans of the wind energy industry. Joel Howard is a corporate attorney with wind industry financial closings on behalf of land owners, developers, as well as off takers. Shaw Environmental Engineers who are industry leaders in fatal flaw analysis. Finally A.J. Swope, director of Class 4 Winds which is a regional trade organization that promotes the benefits of the wind industry to area businesses.
Approximately five hundred thousand dollars and over three thousand man hours have been invested in the preliminary development of twelve projects in West Texas, the Texas Panhandle, Eastern New Mexico, and the Great Plains region totaling over two hundred thousand developable acres. The wind power potential of these twelve projects is well over 2000 MW.
Because of successful networking and a good reputation, land owners are regularly contacting Tylan Shelton and Big Sky Wind Energy requesting the development of additional wind projects.
We have four preliminary no-exclusive joint development agreements in place with a well seasoned Spanish wind developer, an experienced Norwegian turbine manufacturer, a southern California developer with 20 years of experience, and one of the oldest and most accomplished American engineer procurement and construction contractors. All have agreed to joint develop the projects that best fit their model.
Because of industry indicators i.e.: Recent ARRA 2009 stimulus regulation publications, a 15% National Renewable Energy Standard, ERCOT/ Texas PUC transmission construction approval, the Southwest Power Poole, and the High Plains Express transmission expansion plans we anticipate incredible growth throughout 2010, 2011 and 2012 and beyond.
